Enoch walked with God.  Then Scripture says an unusual thing…God took him.  Enoch did not die but was taken into God’s presence.

(NASB) Genesis 5:22, 24  22 “Then Enoch walked with God…”
24 “Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”

How can you know today that you will be taken into God’s presence when you die?  There are exceptions to people leaving this earth by dying…Enoch and Elijah and for the followers of Christ when they are ‘raptured’; taken into God’s presence by His power without dying. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18)

When we die, we will either be taken into God’s presence or we will not be in God’s presence.  To be in heaven or hell…we make the choice while we live.

The followers of Christ have done the following, doing what God’s word says to do in order to live in His presence beyond this life:
(NASB) Romans 10:8-11 “But what does it say?  ‘THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, in your mouth and in your heart’ – that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, ‘WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.’ ”

Jesus has promised the following to those who believe in Him as their Savior:
(NASB) John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”

Jesus also said:
(NASB) John 10:27-30 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
29 ‘My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
30 ‘I and the Father are one.’ ”

“for God took him” was said of Enoch…will it be said of you?  Will it be said of those with whom you have contact?  We are to share this Good News with others…the Good News of knowing God by walking with Him each day.
