The Importance of Seth
(NASB) Genesis 4:25-26 “Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, she said, “God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel, for Cain killed him.
26 To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the LORD.”
Why is the birth of Seth so important?
It was through the lineage of Seth that Messiah would be born – Jesus Christ (Messiah).
(NASB) Luke 3:38 “the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.”
Jesus’ credentials are written; His genealogy is listed in Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38 and He alone has the right to sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem as King of kings.
When Adam and Eve sinned (the first sin) the LORD God immediately promised the coming Messiah to bruise the head of Satan – the father of lies. (See John 8:44)
The devil deceived Eve and continues to deceive today.
God granted Eve and Adam a son to take the place of murdered Abel. Seth was a godly man.
God provided the lineage of Messiah through Seth.
God provided the Savior (Messiah) to save you and me from the sins we commit.
God provided a lineage of faith in Messiah’s line and it began with Adam and Seth.
God, the great “I Am”, Jehovah is LORD. He has provided all that we need…to be forgiven.
Thanksgiving and honor and praise – have you given that to the LORD for establishing a godly lineage, godly men whose faith in Him has continued from the time of creation?
What are you establishing in your family for the generations to come?
Cain’s offspring did not know the LORD God. Seth’s family worshiped the living God.
It is important what you are establishing in your family for the generations to come.
