Where do you focus your thoughts when life is difficult, or dangerous, or pain-filled or when fear and/or anger grip you?
When our focus is on our situation or ourselves…it can be defeating and depressive.
Many people say ‘pick yourself up by your bootstraps’…or ‘snap out of it’.
My friend…that has never worked for me.  Only when I focus on God and Who He is am I encouraged.

As 2011 becomes a year in the past and 2012 is a reality…where are you going to choose to focus your thoughts?

The following is a partial list of God’s name and attributes…thinking about Who God IS, is an encouragement and can give you a different way of looking at yourself and your circumstances.

Almighty – holy is the LORD God Almighty (Revelation 4:8)

Branch – Jesus is King and Priest (Zechariah 6:12-13)

Christ – the Anointed One of God (Luke 4:18)

Deliverer – the Lord Jesus Christ delivers me from my enemies (sins) (2 Samuel 22:2-4)

Everlasting – God will never die or fade away (Psalm 102:27)

Faithfulness – God is faithful to His promises (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

God – “I am God and not man” – God is my salvation (Hosea 11:9; Isaiah 12:2)

Holiness – God is declared to be “Holy, holy, holy” (Revelation 4:8)

I Am – the ever-living, present, eternal God (Exodus 3:14)

Judge – He will judge each and every person (Revelation 20:11-12)

King – the Lord Jesus is prophesied to be the “king of the nations” (Jeremiah 10:6-7)

Lamb – Jesus, the Lamb of God Who came to take away your sins (John 1:29)

In 2012, how will you re-focus your thoughts for your situation?

Who is God, the living God of the Bible, to you?

Re-focusing…on the God of the Holy Bible changes our perspective.
