After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, perhaps as long as two years, wise men came looking for the child who had been born ‘King of the Jews’.  They went to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel where King Herod lived.

The wise men told Herod:
(NASB) Matthew 2:2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?  For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

The wise men were directed to Bethlehem due to prophecy (Micah 5:2)…and there they found the child Jesus, living in a house with His parents.

(NASB) Matthew 2:11 “After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him.  Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

To sit on the throne of David…requires proof…the proof for Jesus’ credentials, His genealogy is found in Matthew 1:1-16 & Luke 3:23-38.

Jesus came into the world, born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit of God and He is coming again to rule and reign as King over all kings and be LORD over all lords.

(NASB) Revelation 19:11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.”

(NASB) Revelation 19:16 “And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.’ ”

On that night long ago, angels came and told the shepherds of the birth of Jesus, the newborn King.  It is His birth we celebrate this Christmas.

Come, and worship Him, the King of glory!

What happened that wondrous night, long ago, has implications for us to day…Jesus came, born to a virgin and is coming again to reign as King.  Your life can be lived with that sure promise.

“Angels From the Realm of Glory”

As the Christmas carol states:

“Come and worship, the newborn King” as you celebrate His birth.
