(See yesterday’s devotional for more background on this verse.)
(NASB) Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

Messiah was promised, He is the ‘seed’ of the woman.  The woman was the prophesied virgin who was chosen by God to birth Jesus as the Son of Man.
(See Matthew 1:23 “ ‘BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,’ which translated means, ‘GOD WITH US.’ ”)

How does the cross enter into Genesis 3:15?  The cross is an important symbol in the Christian faith.  It was at the cross where Jesus overpowered (now has mastery) over death (and this was proven by His resurrection  See Romans 6:9).  It was at the cross where Jesus bore our sins (it is through Him you can be forgiven because He had your sin on Himself, as if it were His sin – See 2 Corinthians 5:21).  It was at the cross where Christ Jesus rendered powerless Satan who had the power of death.  (See Hebrews 2:14-15)  It was at the cross where Jesus set us free from the haunting fear of death.
Jesus did indeed bruise the head of Satan at the cross.  In Genesis 3:15, the prophecy is also fulfilled at the cross of Jesus…for a nail was driven into the heels of Jesus at the cross.

This Messiah Jesus died for your sins as if they were His…what is your response at the cross?

Whether you are a follower of Christ or not,

how do you now respond to Christ?
