Eve had listened to Satan’s temptation…eat of the tree of knowledge and you will be like God, knowing good and evil (See Genesis 3:5).  The woman wanted to be wise so she took the fruit, ate it and gave also to her husband (See Genesis 3:6).

The LORD God walked in the garden in the cool of the day and called out to Adam and Eve “Where are you?”  Adam answered from his hiding place; he confessed his sin to his Creator.  The LORD God questioned Adam, then Eve and then turned to Satan who had disguised himself as a serpent.  (See Genesis 3:7-13)

(NASB) Genesis 3:14 “The LORD God said to the serpent,
‘Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life;
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.’ ”

What can you and I learn from this passage of Scripture?
1- The LORD God did not waste time with His judgment on sin – He did not ‘sweep it under the rug’ and hope it would go away.  He dealt with the sin immediately.
What do you do when you are aware of sin in your life?  What do you do when you are tempted and give into the temptation (and your sin will always involve others).  God dealt with sin immediately…do you?

2- The LORD God began His judgment with the instigator of the temptation which led to sin – Satan.  (Tomorrow this devotional will consider the origin of Satan and his fall from heaven.)
How do you deal with sin?  Do you go to the source of the sin…the temptation which led to the action(s) of sin?

God Immediately Dealt With Sin

  And He also immediately gave the promise of Messiah to deal with the sin (See Genesis 3:15).  This devotional will consider this aspect in the days ahead.

We have the opportunity to be forgiven of our sins and it is through the Lord Jesus Christ…His work of salvation on the cross and through His resurrection…Hallelujah!
