Satan’s Temptations Then…and Now
Satan hasn’t changed…he still tempts us. It is how we deal with the temptations which lead us away from God or closer to God. We have that choice. We make that choice.
(NASB) Genesis 3:4-5 “The serpent said to the woman, ‘You surely will not die!
5 ‘For God knows that in the day you eat from it (the tree of knowledge of good and evil) your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
The LORD God had warned Adam and in His wisdom he gave Adam, you and me the choice to obey His words. Real love for people does that. (See Genesis 2:16-17)
Eve had added to God’s words of warning “You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.” God had not said anything about not touching that tree or its fruit. Adding to God’s words is making a choice…denying that God’s word is enough.
The serpent refuted what God had said…and thereby called God a liar.
Why is it important, even imperative, to know what God has to say through His word, the Holy Bible? Isn’t it so we won’t be ‘taken in’ by the world’s way of thinking where it is in opposition to God and His words?
What Satan is saying…are you listening? OR are you listening to what God is saying to you?
To whom are you listening?
(NASB) Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”
