(NASB) Genesis 2:18 “Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.’ ”

The LORD God stated a fact about man, about Adam.  Adam needed a helper – not a slave or one who would control him.
Adam needed someone who would give him assistance and be a helpful companion.  He needed someone who would contribute to the achievement of God’s purpose for them.  Adam needed someone who would be effective and fill a need in his life.

Adam needed a woman, a wife who would be a helper ‘just right’ for him.

What about you?  Are you that husband who values your wife?  Are you a wife who is a true helper to your husband?

(Amplified) Ephesians 5:22 “Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.”

So many today do not like that word ‘submit’ or ‘be subject’ to one’s own husband.  For the follower of Christ, to submit to God and His words is to “…(be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands…” according to Ephesians 5:22.

(Amplified) Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her…”

Men are to give sacrificial love to their wives…the supreme example being Christ’s sacrificial love for the body of believers, the church.

The LORD God knew that Adam needed a helper.  He needed a companion.  And his wife needed to be loved by him…
