A River Watered the Garden of Eden
Genesis 2:10-14 tells of a river which began to flow out from the Garden of Eden to water the garden. From there it divided into four rivers: the Pishon, the Gihon, the Tigris and the Euphrates.
In North Florida, USA, there is an underground spring which is the headwater of the Wakulla River. It flows into the St. James River which flows into the Gulf of Mexico. Four hundred thousand gallons of water come out of that spring every minute. The limestone rock and cave system is well below the surface of the waters. This purified fresh water makes it possible to clearly see the manatee and other fresh water life in that river.
The Garden of Eden was watered by a river which had its beginnings in the garden. Perhaps it was much like the Wakulla Springs in Florida.
Taking the idea of a spring of water, the Holy Bible illustrates it as the life-giving water which comes through Jesus Christ:
(NASB) John 4:14 “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
Wakulla Springs produces 400,000 gallons of water a minute…just think of what the Lord Jesus offers you! “…a well of water springing up to eternal life.” No matter your circumstances, perhaps you are suffering from a spiritual drought…Jesus wants to give you water from within which springs up to eternal life.
Will you say, as the woman at the well Jesus was talking with said: “Sir, give me this water…” (See John 4:1-15)
A river watered the Garden of Eden,
Jesus offers water springing up to eternal life, is it yours?
