The LORD God planted a garden – God Himself planted the garden where He would place Adam (the first man).

That garden must have been beautiful.  Remember the mist which rose from the ground to water the earth…the perfect climate.  If you think about that garden in the early morning, how would an artist picture the dawn colors softly illuminating the air?  And not only in the early morning hours but throughout the day and into the evening when long shadows would be flung across the grass.
There were trees and shrubs bearing fruit and vegetables and nuts, and flowers would have been in profusion throughout that garden.  Every provision was prepared for Adam to eat and drink.  His eyes must have feasted on his surroundings.

What beauty has the LORD God provided for you to enjoy today?  Perhaps a sun-filled sky or clouds spilling needed rain.

No matter where you live…God is there, He has prepared and provided what you need. [In the coming weeks this devotional will consider God’s provision for Adam and Eve after they sinned.]

In an out-of-date book written by a woman in a harsh land…she found beauty in a seed by what it would produce.  Just as she had to wait to see the growth from the seed pod, we also need to wait for growth in ourselves and others.  She observed the pods opening and the beauty of the life within was revealed, just as the life of Christ is revealed in His followers as we depend on God for His preparation and provision.  She sketched the various seeds and found a parable of her faith in Jesus Christ through those seeds and pods.  The pods would have to die in order for life to be produced.  That is what Christ did on the cross; He died and came to life again (resurrection).  His death and resurrection life was for people, a person such as you, to receive life everlasting.

God prepared and provided a place for Adam to live:
(NASB) Genesis 2:8 “The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.”

What has God prepared for you, provided for you today?
