Accountability Before the LORD
What is the LORD’S warning to His people?
(NASB) Psalm 37:32 “The wicked spies upon the righteous
And seeks to kill him.”
The LORD protects His people:
(NASB) Psalm 37:33 “The LORD will not leave him in his hand
Or let him be condemned when he is judged.”
What are the righteous to do?
(NASB) Psalm 37:34a “Wait for the LORD and keep His way…”
What will be the end result?
(NASB) Psalm 37:34b “And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.”
The LORD holds each person accountable for their choices in this life – there is no ‘grey’ area regarding salvation by God’s grace – either you choose the means through which God’s grace is expressed (belief in the risen Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior from your sins) OR rejection of God and His grace.
We are not ultimately accountable to our family, our church, our culture or political party, etc. We are accountable to the living LORD Who is Judge over all.
(NIV) Revelation 20:11-12 “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.”
When you stand before the LORD (and everyone WILL stand before Him) will your name be found written in the book of life? God does hold us accountable.
