Thieves and robbers try to strip people of their valuables.

What is valuable to you?  People guard what is valuable to them.  Locks are put on doors, sometimes grillwork guards windows and doors.  Safes are hidden in a home or safety-deposit boxes are used in a bank.  Many people install a Security alarm system in their home.  Others use all these and also live in a ‘gated’ community.  Watch dogs may be used or even guards posted around the property.

People guard what is of value to them.
God guards those who value Him by believing in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Jesus described the thief who would try and rob His valued property – believers in Him as their Savior and Lord.
(NASB) John 10:1 “TRULY, TRULY, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.”

Subtlety, misleading half truths, blatant disregard for God’s holy word will be used to entice followers of Christ from God Himself.  Thieves and robbers are intent on robbing God of His followers, His ‘valuables’.

Knowing Scripture is important;

for by knowing God’s word,

thieves and robbers will be thwarted!

(NASB) John 10:5 “A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
