The “deeds of the flesh” are in opposition to the Spirit of God.  (See the devotional for Tuesday, June 7, 2011)
The followers of Christ have been given God’s Holy Spirit…therefore we have the fruit of the Spirit within…

When catastrophes and events outside of your control come – where do you turn for that peace that surpasses human understanding?  The answer may sound simplistic to many…but it is true nonetheless: turn to God and His word in faith, believing His words to be true for you in your circumstances.

(NASB) Philippians 2:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.  The Lord is near.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Look at those words!  Rejoice in the Lord – REALLY?!  When the world as we know it is in chaos?
Look again at those next words: you are a witness, followers of Christ.  As a follower of Christ know that He is near you…no matter what your emotions or circumstances are.

What else does God say?  “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
He has told you what to do…tell Him what is going on in your life and thank Him for hearing you.

And now for the icing on the cake: God’s peace will be given you!  Will you understand how He does that?  I don’t think so.  But He does do it nonetheless.

God’s love surrounds you; joy is the gladness for being His and His peace permeates your innermost being as you trust Him.

(NASB) Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”
