Legalism is a yoke of slavery…e.g. in order to be a Christian you have to do these things…in order to be a true Christian you have to have had this experience, etc.

But Galatians 5:4 states you are severed from Christ and fallen from grace if you try to justify yourself by the law.

The grace of God cannot be earned; not by you or anyone.  God’s grace is a gift to you…to receive His gift is to embrace His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.
The followers of Christ have been called to freedom.  We are to serve one another through love.

 

What is your motive when you serve another?

 

(NASB) Galatians 5:13 “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

(NASB) Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.”

Jesus told a parable of the Good Samaritan…Samaritans were despised by the Jews of Israel.  And Jesus illustrated what loving your neighbor is really like.  It does not observe the barriers of race, religion or bias.  (See Luke 10:25-37)
