This devotional is considering Jesus being our realistic Savior…in our real circumstances in this very real world of hurts and possibly in our disillusionments.
Some people may believe that once they accept Jesus as their Savior, life will be perfect, without heartache, tears, sadness, or even catastrophes.
God is honest with us…our roads and our paths will probably not always be smooth. In fact, we can expect life to ‘happen’ to us as it does to other people.

Wars are taking place today in many parts of the world and there are followers of Christ in the middle of those brutal places.
Death, whether expected or unexpected, does occur whether you are a Christian or not.
Illness and disease, distresses do come to everyone at some point in time.

So the question becomes, how do we face these challenges of life?
When life ‘happens’…fear, very real fear can occur. Out-of-our-control circumstances can produce anxiety, panic attacks and/or anger.

The Psalmist put his fears in God’s hands:
(NASB) Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.”

The Psalmist gives us the right perspective of what to do when ‘life happens’.
Have you ever ‘prayed’ a Psalm inserting your name into it and making it very personal for you?

(NASB) Psalm 34:1-4 “I WILL bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul will make its boast in the LORD;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
3 O magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.”

(NASB) Psalm 34:17-18 “The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is near the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Are you ‘brokenhearted’ or ‘crushed in spirit’ today?
Your cry to the LORD will be heard by Him and He will answer you, may the LORD bless you with His presence and His peace in your mind, your emotions and your will today.
