(NASB) Matthew 8:16-17 “When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.
17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.”

In some way these hurtful things became Jesus’ hurts and illnesses.  Jesus cast out the demons that controlled individuals, and in exchange, they received His freedom from their oppressions.  He took the very illnesses He healed upon Himself.

When have you asked for healing for yourself or for another…physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually?

How did you respond when healing occurred?  Stop and think about that!  The freedom from disease and pain came at a price to the Lord Jesus.  He has taken that disease and pain onto Himself.

He understands your pain, your sorrows because it is His.

Empathy is a wonderful way for people to help others.  But Jesus has gone a step beyond empathy, He has gotten into the trenches with you and your pain has become His.

Have you ever thought of Jesus in this way?  Have you sensed His presence in your circumstances?

(NASB) Isaiah 53:4a “Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried…”

Jesus takes away griefs and sorrows and He promises to give His peace to all who turn to Him by faith.  Jesus (Messiah) exchanges the dark things in our lives for His peace.

(NASB) John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Do not let your heart be troubled, or let it be fearful.”

What griefs and sorrows do you now need to give Him?
