What does the Law show us?  What does God’s Law prove about the human condition?
The Law shows and proves that people are sinners.  Even when we try our hardest to be good and right…we fail.  Followers of Christ are not exempt.  What is the answer to this dilemma?

In the book of Romans, Paul states this problem quite well and from his experience:
(NASB) Romans 7:24 “Wretched man that I am!  Who will set me free from the body of this death?”

Our need is to be freed from this law of sin and death (because we are sinners).
Our need is to be freed from the fear of dying.
Our need is to be freed from not only feeling guilty but also of being guilty of sin.

Our need is met through our Lord Jesus Christ:
(NASB) Romans 7:25 “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!  So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.”

Conclusion: the Law shows and proves that people need a Savior.
(NIV) Romans 8:1-4 “THEREFORE, THERE is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.”

Our need is to be freed from not only feeling guilty but also of being guilty of sin.
