The Contrast of Choices
This devotional has been considering the contrast of being like the world or being distinct from the world. From listening and following what the world says is right, or what God says is right. We have a decided set of choices.
Psalm 1 contrasts a full and fruit-filled life with a life worth nothing, like chaff, a life without eternal value.
What is ‘chaff’? The dictionary defines it:
1. The husks of grain after separation from the seed. 2. Finely cut straw or hay used as fodder. 3. Trivial or worthless matter.
With these definitions in mind, consider:
(NASB) Psalm 1:4 “The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.”
Our choices today affect our eternity…with the LORD or with the wicked…
(NASB) Psalm 1:5-6 “Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
What a contrast, a tree planted beside refreshing, living water
Or
Chaff which is worthless and driven away by the wind!
