Being a Tree Planted By Water
The Psalmist described the life of a follower of Christ, a person who puts God and His word first in their life.
(NASB) Psalm 1:1-3 “HOW BLESSED is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.”
How can you be like that kind of tree planted by streams of moving, refreshing water?
Consider the first verse:
By not doing what ungodly people counsel you to do
By not standing with sinners, but standing and agreeing with the LORD and His words.
By not sitting with scoffers of God and His word, but seeking fellowship with mature believers in Christ.
When will you yield fruit, spiritual fruit in a timely manner?
Consider the second verse:
After you have spent time reading, and thinking about what God says. Then by doing what God’s word says to do…this will be sacrificial for you will need to turn from some things you are now doing or thinking or saying.
The blessings of God
come from believing in God
and doing what He says to do.
As 2011 unfolds, day by day…
how will you become like a tree planted beside living water?
