(NASB) Genesis 4:6-8 “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry?  And why has your countenance fallen?
7 ‘If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up?  And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.’
8 Cain told Abel his brother.  And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.”

The first murder…brother killing brother – out of anger.  What causes you to anger?  Anger against God will affect your relationships, attitude and actions.

God warned Cain that anger was not to control him but he was to control his anger…he needed to deal with it…and he didn’t.  Anger is sin.  Anger leads to greater sin.  Marriages and relationships, (sometimes) even people are killed…because anger is not dealt with in a timely or honest manner.

 

Anger drives people politically, economically, and personally.

What is driving you?

  God knew where Cain’s anger would lead him…and in His wise and loving warning He reached out to Cain…but Cain would have none of it.
God knows where anger leads, are you listening and responding to His loving warning?

(NASB) James 1:19-20 “This you know, my beloved brethren.  But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”

God’s word will save your mind, emotions, will – that part of you which will go with you into eternity.  Your responsiveness to God’s word…will be a blessing for you!
