What is the meaning of Jesus’ name?

(NASB) Matthew 1:21 “She (the virgin) will bear a Son; and you (Joseph) shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

What is the one need of every person?  God says it is the need to be forgiven for sins.  And God has provided for that need.

(NASB) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

All sin, all fall short of the mark of God’s perfection.  All sin, all fall short of God’s glory.  All sin, all need a Savior.

What is the bottom line?  It is your choice to accept or reject God’s answer…Jesus Christ.

Christmas is almost here…the time of celebration of the Christ Child in a manger…such a sweet and innocent looking scene…with Mary and Joseph, and the shepherds standing and looking at this newborn baby.

Christmas is special, a reason to be festive.

The main character is a baby…born in a barn and given a bed in a trough from which animals eat their straw.

The baby Who was given the name…Jesus, which means “He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus…the name above all names…Savior, Immanuel.

How do you use the name of Jesus?

When was the last time you knelt on your knees in prayer?

When was the last time you praised God for His Son?

Christmas is the time we recognize Jesus’ birth…when was the time you were given new birth in Jesus Christ as your Savior?  If you cannot pinpoint a time…today could be your point of reference.
