Love…is Not Arrogant
(NASB) 1 Corinthians 13:4 Love…“is not arrogant.”
The arrogant credit themselves for events and circumstances.
The arrogant person says…‘I will…’ The ultimate arrogance is what Satan said before he fell out of heaven (NIV) Isaiah 14:14 “I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
Kings and rulers have said much the same thing and they were taken from their positions of power.
The arrogant do not love God (the God of the Bible), they do love themselves. Arrogance is haughty, looking down on others as being ‘lesser mortals’. The root of arrogance is pride.
The arrogant are proud of their charisma, education, position of power, knowledge, social scale, monetary worth, etc. They exalt themselves above others. The arrogant say ‘I am’…
God detests the arrogant for they say, ‘I will…’ or ‘I am…’
The Lord God said this against the king of Babylon (who was arrogant and haughty) in Isaiah 14:22 “‘I will rise up against them,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
God states:
(NIV) Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”
(Amplified) Proverbs 8:13 “The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.”
Love…is not arrogant
