In today’s world, acts of sin are seen in the movies, on TV, in video games and on the internet…even sexting is widespread.
Jokes abound which include these acts of sin…and we laugh or chuckle.
We might say we have never gotten ‘high’ or had too much to drink, or we have never cheated on our spouse, etc…however, are you ever jealous or envious of another, have selfish ambition driving you, or create dissension among your co-workers?

Sin is bondage; it makes people slaves to specific sin.  From the following verses, what sin(s) are holding you as a slave?
(NASB) Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Perhaps you think that the above list does not involve you…think about this:
Do you stir up trouble in your family or among your co-workers with a ‘look’ or an insinuation?  Are you a part of a clique which excludes others?  Do you ever react in anger or with revenge toward that driver who cuts you off?  What about an ‘outburst of anger’, the kind of anger which damages relationships?

Review the above verses; looking at the individual acts of sin…do they pertain to you?

What do you need to delete from your actions?

From what bondage of sin do you need to be freed?

[Tomorrow’s devotional will give some of the freedoms found only in Jesus Christ.]
