Relationships are strengthened and God is honored when others are loved and encouraged through your attitude.  Generosity…how generous are you?  I am not referring to giving financially (although that is certainly commendable).  Generosity can be giving unconditional love to those who disappoint us or are unkind to us.

(NIV) Romans 12:13 “Share with God’s people who are in need.  Practice hospitality.”

Wisdom in sharing with God’s people, to supply their need…is it for the short-term?  Is it for the long term?  Encouraging others sometimes means helping them not to be co-dependent on you.  Our generosity should be thoughtfully, carefully and wisely given.

For some people, practicing hospitality is easy and gives them joy.  For others it is difficult.  No matter if hospitality is easy or difficult for you, it does take a sacrifice of time, energy and yourself.  How pleasant to be in a home where hospitality is practiced and the atmosphere reflects well thought out preparations.  As a guest, am I thankful and appreciative of the efforts that have been made?

With the holidays fast approaching…how will you approach being generous?   Bah!  Humbug! Or will it be with a sense of joy and of honoring God through your generosity to others?
