No Regrets Before God
What is the difference between Godly sorrow and worldly sorrow?
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 7:10 “For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
When we are truly repentant before God ~ that is Godly sorrow ~
It is God’s salvation which saves us from our sins…not our works, we need to be repentantly sorrowful…and choose to turn from the sin and its cause…and turning around to God.
Worldly sorrow is selfish because it is self-centered. Worldly sorrow – remorse which does not include repentance before Almighty God.
Worldly sorrow does not take ownership of being wrong but does focus on being wronged.
When you stand before God (as every person will) will you have “No Regrets”? Why, will it be because God’s mercy, forgiveness, love and grace have been given to you by the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord?
What is the end result of Godly sorrow?
Godly sorrow is being truly repentant and having salvation, knowing for sure and for certain that you have been forgiven through the Son of God because of His work on the cross in your place.
For the Believer:
(NASB) 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
What is the end result of worldly sorrow?
Worldly sorrow is sadness, remorse (I wish I hadn’t done or said that, or that I had not been caught!). That kind of sorrow produces death, because it is not depending on God for forgiveness.
For the Non-believer:
(NIV) Romans 2:5, 16 “But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.”
16“This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ…”
God’s word is very clear…and each of us has a choice of being repentant or remorseful; of experiencing Godly sorrow or worldly sorrow.
When you stand before the Holy God, Who will judge each person,
will you have regrets for your choices today?
