(NIV) James 3:17 “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive…”

Last week we considered God’s Wisdom: pure; peace-loving; and considerate.

Wisdom which comes from God includes being submissive to Him.  My first action of submission is found in:

(NASB) Romans 12:1 “THEREFORE I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”

Isn’t that amazing?  Being submissive to God is an act of worship!  Submissiveness and worship of God are hand-in-hand.

When we are using Godly wisdom and being submissive to others, we are willing to listen, to think about, pray, and then do what God reveals through His word (the Holy Bible).

We can disagree without being disagreeable.
(NIV) James 1:19 “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry”

Whenever we demand that our ideas and our opinions are right, we are being subjective and using earthly wisdom, even if it is in a church or Christian ministry setting.

Being submissive is to be willing, and honestly listen to all sides being presented without compromising God’s truths.  Yielding to God is to submit to His authority over you, even if it means not getting your way.  Godly wisdom goes beyond the “me” and focuses on God Himself.

In God’s wisdom He requires submission to Him – Who is true wisdom.
