(NIV) Acts 1:8 “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  Why is this promise important for us today?
  The disciples received power to witness in the capitol of Israel (Jerusalem).  They received power to witness in their country – to the Jews (Judea) and to the Gentiles (Samaria).  These same disciples received power to witness beyond Israel (ends of the earth).  Because of the power of the Holy Spirit, many have witnessed of Jesus from one generation…to the next…to the present day.

  If you are a follower of Christ, you are a recipient of those first disciples’ power to witness!

  The following is my prayer (could it be yours?):

  LORD, fill me with Your power of the Holy Spirit to be an effective witness in and through my attitude, actions, and words.
