As this devotional stated yesterday: Jesus joined with two people on their way to Emmaus.
(NASB) Luke 24:27 “Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.”

Today we will consider a Scripture from Exodus:
(NIV) Exodus 12:21-24 “Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. 22Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the door frame. Not one of you shall go out the door of his house until morning. 23When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the door frame and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.”

This “picture” using the Passover lamb is profound. (See 1 Corinthians 5:7b “ Christ our Passover Lamb”) Christ Jesus was killed on the cross, the Passover lamb was killed and its blood used on the door frame of the house in Egypt so all who were inside that house would not suffer the death of their first-born sons. The Egyptians would suffer this last plague throughout their nation that night. (See Exodus 12:1-50)
It is Jesus’ blood which saves those who come to Him by faith, believing that He died for their sins. Being “in Christ” takes on new meaning when viewed from the perspective of that first Passover. In order to be saved from separation from God in eternity, in order to be saved from the reality of hell, individuals (you and me) need faith in Christ, faith in the blood of the Lamb of God to cover us, to protect us.
God calls us to believe in His Son as our Savior. Only Jesus has died for our sins…no one else has done this. Only Jesus has died, was buried and was given resurrected life…for our redemption, our eternal life in the presence of God…no one else has done this.
Christ IS our Passover Lamb…only His blood can cover us so that death passes over us. Our lives must be “in Christ”, just as the Israelites were in those houses with blood on the door frames.

Is Christ Jesus your Passover Lamb?
If so, how will you pray?
