(NIV) John 20:19-20

“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.”

The disciples went from an unsure hope to a hopeful hope when Mary Magdalene brought the news of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. However, they really didn’t believe her…after all she was an emotional woman!
(NASB) Mark 16:14 “Afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen.”

The disciples experienced a roller-coaster ride of emotions on that first day of the week. First there had been Mary Magdalene’s message that she had seen the Lord.
Because of their fear of the Jews they remained in hiding.
And finally, they experienced the moment when Jesus Himself appeared to them…they were overjoyed!

Today, followers of Christ can be sure of their faith in the living Lord Jesus Christ. We have an undeniable faith. Our faith can be for certain and for sure in the God Who sent His only Son to die for our sins. The Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection is proof of God accepting His sacrifice on the cross.

(NASB) Hebrews 11:1 “NOW FAITH is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Where do you put your faith? Is it blind faith; a hopeful, not quite sure faith; or will you place your faith in the One Who died for you?

(NIV) Hebrews 11:1 “NOW FAITH is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
