Emotional Inaction
Mary Magdalene was beside herself with grief. She had found the tomb of Jesus in the darkness of early morning. The stone had been rolled away from the entrance and the body was gone. Not the grave clothes, just the body.
She had run to get two men, Simon Peter and John, and she followed them back to the tomb.
(NIV) John 20:10-13 “Then the disciples went back to their own homes,
11but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she bent over to look into the tomb 12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away, she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.”
Mary Magdalene was clearly upset…what upsets you? Are you upset over circumstances over which you have no control? So was Mary Magdalene. Frustration, fear, sorrow and grief can cause inaction…like Mary. She just stood there at the entrance to the empty tomb, crying. She was emotionally unable to move.
Where are you emotionally unable to move?
Mary Magdalene had loved Jesus and only Jesus was going to be able to heal her emotions and her inaction.
Jesus can heal your emotions and your inability to move from where you are “stuck”.
Mary’s faith was in her Lord Jesus, her Master and Teacher. Where have you placed your faith? Is it in the living Lord Jesus Christ, or is it in yourself and the unbelief so prevalent in the world today?
(Amplified) Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Have you put God’s words into action?
