(NASB) John 19:41-42 “Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.

42 Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.”

Even in the burial of Jesus, prophecy was fulfilled. Amazing intervention of God for you”¦was costly.

Amazing intervention of Joseph of Arimathea was costly”¦he gave up a brand new grave for Jesus”™ body and thereby fulfilled Scripture. Was he aware of this at the time? He may have been, but I don”™t think so”¦would you have been? Hearing and watching the trials, the scourging, the crucifixion of Jesus and then His death? Would you have thought about prophecy in the Scriptures?

Joseph was a wealthy man; he could afford to have a new tomb!

Scripture of Prophecy

(NIV) Isaiah 53:9 “He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death”¦”

A new grave, one in which no dead body had ever been laid. Jewish customs many times had a family”™s burial site used repeatedly.

Scripture of Prophecy

(NIV) Psalm 16:10 “because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.”

Joseph and Nicodemus intervened in a timely manner. They respected and loved this Man, Jesus. No matter that their hopes seemed to be dashed. No matter that they could lose their status in the religious community. They intervened in a timely manner.

Where do you need to Intervene”¦In a Timely Manner?
