Jesus asked for something to moisten His mouth. It was dry, and He had some words to say before His death on the cross.

(NASB) John 19:29-30 “A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.

30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “˜It is finished!”™”¦”

What a victorious acclamation!

Proclaiming God”™s work as Finished!

Jesus recognized the moment that all that was needed for our sins to be forgiven was done, completed.

This is what He was sent to do, to finish the work God had for Him.

(NASB) John 4:34 “Jesus said to them, “˜My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.”™”

Why had Jesus come?

(Amplified) John 10:10 “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

Jesus came to thwart the enemy of God ““ so that we cannot be taken from God once we have received Him into our lives by believing in Jesus as our Savior. Jesus came to give His abundant life to all who say “˜Jesus is Lord”™ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (See Romans 10:9)
