Separated from God…Prophecy Fulfilled
(NASB) Matthew 27:46 “About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “˜ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?”™ that is, “˜MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?”™”
Jesus”™ words were fulfillment of prophecy in Psalm 22:1. It was foretold that Messiah would utter those very words and they were a direct quote.
Three agonizing hours of darkness, three hours of separation from His Father”¦never before had Jesus, the Son of God, been separated from His Father. Forsaken!
The dictionary defines “˜forsake”™: To give up; renounce. To leave altogether; to desert; abandon.
God the Father renounced, left altogether, deserted, abandoned His Son because Jesus, the Son of God, became sin. God required a sinless sacrifice and that perfect sacrifice was Jesus, the Christ. Your sins and mine were on Jesus, the Lamb of God”¦it was He Who took away our sins.
This separation fulfilled Scripture and God”™s purpose for Jesus. God”™s purpose for Jesus was for you and your eternity after physical death.
There is a condition on which everyone”™s eternity is based. That condition is if we accept; receive by taking the gift: believing Jesus”™ death was for us.
(NASB) Acts 10:43 “Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”
(NASB) John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “˜I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Jesus said that through Himself alone can anyone go to heaven, to be in God”™s presence. For Jesus”™ death (taking our sins on Himself) was the perfect sacrifice which God the Father accepted. Jesus was separated from the Father so anyone who believes in Him as their Savior will be forgiven and received into the Father”™s presence.
Separated from God”¦Prophecy Fulfilled ~ for you.
(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Praise God for Jesus ~ Savior ~ Lord ~ Coming Again!
