Attitude Based on Truth
Pilate sent Jesus to Herod when he found out that Jesus was from Galilee. The Jewish leaders wanted Jesus to receive the death sentence which only Pilate could decree. They must have been incensed at this end play of Pilate.
(NASB) Luke 23:8-11 “Now Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus; for he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about him and was hoping to see some sign performed by Him.
9 And he questioned Him at some length; but He answered him nothing.
10 And the chief priests and the scribes were standing there, accusing Him vehemently.
11 And Herod with his soldiers, after treating Him with contempt and mocking Him, dressed Him in a gorgeous robe and sent Him back to Pilate.”
How did the King of kings (Jesus) see the king of Israel (Herod)? Jesus gave Herod no answer to his many questions. Herod had opportunity to see and hear Jesus for the past three years”¦Jesus”™ dignity must have been noticeable during this time of degradation by Herod and his soldiers. Jesus”™ attitude was based on truth, the truth of God the Father.
How does Jesus see you? Do you, like Herod, want Jesus to “˜perform”™, to do miracles for your entertainment?
Herod was looking for Jesus to entertain him with a miracle or two, how sad that he missed Messiah standing there before him.
Today, there are followers of Christ who treasure the Bible as God”™s true word but are not allowed to own a Bible.
Consider this: Do you own a Bible?
Do you read it?
Do you treasure it as God”™s true word for you?
What is your attitude; is it based on the truths of God?
