When Jesus was arrested His eleven disciples deserted Him. They”¦not only deserted Him”¦they literally ran away. Judas Iscariot had led the armed crowd to point Jesus out and then Scripture does not mention him until Jesus is condemned to die on the cross”¦then we learn the rest of Judas”™ story”¦(See Matthew 27:1-10)

(NASB) Luke 22:54 “Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.”

It was dark in those early morning hours. It would have taken some courage on Peter”™s part to even follow at a distance.

There is a news source that has reported about a new Christian in India who was severely beaten and one of his ears was cut off. He has a wife and seven children who were threatened by those who beat up this man. He signed a paper renouncing his faith in Christ.

Peter did the same thing”¦although he wasn”™t beaten but was filled with fear. As Peter stood in the courtyard of the high priest”¦he denied Christ not once, or twice but three times. (See Luke 22:54-62)

After denying Christ, he went out and “˜wept bitterly”™.

For the rest of Peter”™s story”¦read John 21:15-19.

How have you denied Christ?

Have you chosen to merely be filled with remorse like Judas or filled with repentance, receiving God”™s forgiveness and reinstated into His grace and love like Peter”¦what is the rest of your story?
