How do Christians deal with pain-filled circumstances? Following the example Jesus gave us on the night of His betrayal would be an excellent place to begin.

(NASB) Matthew 26:42-44 “He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “˜My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”™

43 Again He came and found them (three disciples) sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.”

The first time Jesus prayed He said, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” (See verse 39)

The second and third time he said, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”

When Jesus was faced with His separation from His Father for the first and only time”¦

When Jesus was faced with taking on sins (yours and mine) for the first and only time”¦

Jesus chose to say to His Father, “Your will be done.”

When hard choices come into your life ““ as followers of Christ, we need to come to the same conclusion as Jesus did.

“˜My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”™
