“unless a grain of wheat”¦”
In John 12:24 (NIV), Jesus predicted His death when He said, “I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
When Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane He was preparing to become that grain of wheat. He would die on the cross in a few hours, He would be buried in a tomb and He would be resurrected to life, physical and spiritual life that is eternal.
To be a grain of wheat spiritually is to submit completely to God”™s will, God”™s ways and God”™s plan. Jesus did that as He lay face down on the ground. He did that as He prayed:
(NASB) Matthew 26:39 “And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “˜My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”™”
Submitting to the will of the Father is your choice. You have free will. You can choose God”™s way”¦or not.
Jesus chose God”™s will for Him. Think about the ramifications for you and me: if Jesus had not chosen God”™s will”¦you and I would be without hope of being forgiven for our sins”¦we would never have had the opportunity to receive God”™s forgiveness. We would have been forever in bondage to sin, death and Satan.
“unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies””¦
Jesus did that for you”¦because of His love for you.
How will you now respond to Him?
