Jesus faced deep, distressing sorrow. How did He do it? How did He survive? He turned to the Source from which He would have release. Did it mean that He would be instantly cured or instantly taken out of the distressing events? No, it did not. He turned to His Father in prayer in submission and acceptance of His Father”™s will for Him.

The Psalmist also experienced distress, depression and despair. As you read the words, you may have the need to apply them to your life”¦may the Lord God give you the comfort and peace only He can give as you seek the refreshing waters of God Himself.

(NASB) Psalm 42:1-2, 5 “AS THE deer pants for the water brooks,

So my soul pants for You, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;

When shall I come and appear before God?”

5 Why are you in despair, O my soul?

And why have you become disturbed within me?

Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him

For the help of His presence.”

Hope in God ““ for the help of His presence!

Intentionally put your hope in God ~ that is faith.

Intentionally pray to the living God ~ that is faith.

Intentionally look past your present circumstances ~ to the living God.

Intentionally put your hope in God ~ grow in your faith.

Facing deep sorrow is not unbelief.

Facing deep sorrow with hope in God is faith.

It is living faith in the living God!

Jesus said in John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me will live [spiritually] even if he dies [physically], 26 and everyone who lives [spiritually] and believes in Me will never die [spiritually]. Do you believe this?”

When facing deep sorrow

followers of Christ have the hope of heaven

because of believing in Christ Jesus.
