Jesus had taken three of His disciples into the inner recesses of the Garden of Gethsemane on the night He would be betrayed.

(NIV) Matthew 26:37-38 “He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then He said to them, “˜My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”™”

Overwhelming sorrow went to the very core of His being. Overwhelming sorrow caused Jesus grief and distress over separation from His Father. He would experience being separated from God the Father. For Jesus, this caused overwhelming sorrow. You and I have no concept of this separation from God until we understand our need to be saved from our sins. That is not a popular concept today. However, God says that we are sinners in need of a Savior. Why? It is because we fall short of the glory of God. (See Romans 3:23)

Some people experience overwhelming sorrow when they are without hope of life after death, do you have such sorrow?

Jesus is the answer. It is through His death on the cross in which anyone is saved from their sins before God Almighty.

Jesus has a gift for you”¦His salvation.

(NIV) Romans 10:9-13 “That if you confess with your mouth, “˜Jesus is Lord,”™ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “˜Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”™ 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile ““ the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “˜Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”™”

Overwhelming sorrow no longer need be yours ~

Who do you know who needs the hope of Christ?
