Time for Prayer ~
What brought comfort to Jesus and what brought Him strength to face horrendous circumstances?
What can bring comfort to you in uncomfortable times?
When the followers of Christ Jesus have circumstances beyond their control ““ knowing that Jesus has endured through pain-filled suffering can be an encouragement to us. How did He face execution on a cross? He did it through prayer. He did it through the knowledge that He was in God”™s will!
Christ Jesus will give His followers endurance, and prayer is the starting point.
Jesus had prayed as the High Priest in John 17, and in Matthew 26:36 He enters the Garden of Gethsemane to pray as the sacrificial Lamb of God.
(NASB) Matthew 26:36 “Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to His disciples, “˜Sit here while I go over there and pray.”™”
Jesus chose to pray before the events which would take His life in a few hours.
Jesus knew He needed a time of prayer to God His Father.
~ Time for prayer is important in your life and mine.
~ Time for prayer gives us the strength to endure and be in submission to God”™s will, doing it God”™s way.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd (See John 10:1-18). A Psalm that is often used at funerals is also good for everyday living as a follower of Christ.
(NASB) Psalm 23:1-3 “THE LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name”™s sake.”
Jesus chose to pray and not fear the coming hours of torture and death. He knew His Father would be with Him in the horrific pain and suffering He would endure.
(NASB) Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me;”
Whatever you are facing today”¦you also can have confidence to endure when you pray in the name of Jesus to the Father for your circumstances. Jesus knows, He has been there and done that.
It is Time for Prayer”¦
