The Glory of Jesus Christ
(NIV) John 17:5 “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
Jesus had a previous history with His Father ““ before the world began! Do we often consider Who He is and where He came from before He entered into the history of the world?
Think of that! Before “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (NASB Genesis 1:1) God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were One yet three Persons before the creation, before the beginning! Jesus said in John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.”
Jesus not only had a personal history with His Father, He also had a personal position of glory ““ of equality with God His Father.
What did Jesus give up in order to become the only blood sacrifice which God the Father could accept? He gave up His position of glory in heaven with His Father! He did this for you! He did this for me! How can we respond to such a great sacrifice in our behalf?
Much is made of Christ”™s physical sacrifice on the cross, as it should be. But how much more Christ gave up when He came to earth. He chose to show His love for you and me when He came into the world. How can we not fall on our knees in worship of such a great salvation?
Jesus alone has done this, there is none other!
(NIV) Philippians 2:6-11 “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death ““ even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
How will you now worship the Lord Jesus Christ?
