Escape Routes
Where do you go to “˜hide”™ or “˜escape”™ in your everyday world? Why do you “˜run away”™ and “˜hide”™ or “˜escape”™? What do you use as your “˜escape route”™? Perhaps you play computer games”¦hours on end; or you read, or you watch TV, or you find other avenues of escape. Some use drugs or alcohol to keep the fears away and the sense of euphoria going. Others do “˜good works”™”¦which are not wrong in any way and are highly socially acceptable”¦except this also can become an “˜escape route”™.
Jesus Christ knows where you escape, what you use to escape and why. He knew that His disciples would run away from Him and hide because of fear. In fact, when He said this to them, that time was just an hour or two away.
(NIV) John 16:32 “But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.”
Notice that Jesus was not saying “˜poor Me”™ when He told those eleven men that they would leave Him all alone. His confidence and sure hope was in God His Father.
In what or whom do you place full confidence and sure hope today?
The next time you “˜escape”™ or “˜hide”™”¦think about going to the One Who is the living God”¦it is His words which give us what we need to meet the situations and people in our lives.
To “˜hide”™ or “˜escape”™ in Christ
is to meet the day with assurance in His power.
It is your choice to run from Jesus
OR
To run to Jesus.
