(NIV) John 16:29-30 “Then Jesus”™ disciples said, “˜Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

Jesus talked with His disciples on the way to the Garden of Gethsemane and they thought they now understood what Jesus had been telling them. They were coming to the conclusion that Jesus knew all things and no one needed to ask Him questions. This is what made them believe that Jesus really did come from God the Father. But, they could not comprehend the fact that Jesus was going back to the Father, soon. Their experience just did not bring them comprehension of Jesus”™ words. They had walked with Jesus for three years, and this experience certainly helped them in their comprehension of some of what He told them.

Are you like the disciples? When something is said you have not had experience with in the past, do you ignore what you hear? What they comprehended and what they believed was through their experience.

Jesus patiently knew that what these eleven men were going to experience in the next hours and days would increase their comprehension”¦they just didn”™t “˜get it”™ yet. That He was going to go back to His Father. (See John 16:28)

What you have not yet experienced is hard to grasp”¦to wrap your thoughts around and understand.

What experiences have you had which helps you in your belief in Jesus Christ? Have you experienced the need to be forgiven by God? If not, why not?

Have you experienced the need for a Savior? Jesus alone can fill that position.

Have you been “˜born again”™? (Those are Jesus”™ words to Nicodemus in John 3:3.)

Do you know that when you received Jesus as your Savior and Lord that He sent God the Holy Spirit to live in you”¦forever?

What is hard for you to understand, to “˜take hold of”™ which Jesus has foretold and promised?

It is hard to comprehend God”™s great love, His mercy, His grace which He pours out into lives committed to following Christ Jesus and doing what He says to do, unless you are now experiencing these things.
