Christ Jesus gave a command then He logically laid out why and how we are to “˜Love one another”™.

(NASB) John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.”

How are we to love others? “˜”¦as I have loved you.”™ We are to love others sacrificially and without selfish motives. Because that is how Jesus Christ has loved us.

(NASB) John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

Christ has loved you that much, He laid down His life for you and He calls you His friend.

(NASB) John 15:14 “You are My friends if you do what I command you.”

Notice the “˜if”™”¦Christ has willingly laid down His life for you, now how will you respond to His command?

(NASB) John 15:15 “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

Friends of Christ hear His words that He has received from His Father”¦what a privilege!

(NASB) John 15:16 “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.”

Chosen! Appointed! The Son of God calls you His friend as you obey His words!

(NASB) John 15:17 “This I command you, that you love one another.”

From these verses: What gives you comfort?

What gives you assurance?

What gives you conviction to obey His command?
