The Love of Christ”¦
“Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so, little ones to Him belong, we are weak but He is strong.”
The words are familiar and as you read them, did you “˜sing”™ them in your mind?
Jesus loves me, but how does He love me? Jesus loves you, but how does He love you?
(NASB) John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.”
What a command!! If you and I refuse to love other believers as Christ has loved us, then we really don”™t know how Christ loved us and loves us still!
If I do choose to love others as Christ has loved me, what would that mean in my life?
My thoughts, words and actions would need to be changed; for me that is a fact. Self-pity would have to go”¦because I would no longer be a victim or selfishly think of “˜me first”™, because that is not how Christ loves me.
“˜Getting even”™ would have to go because that is not how Christ loves me.
Envy and jealousy would have to go because that is not how Christ loves me.
(You fill in the blank) would have to go because that is not how Christ loves me.
A question I have asked myself: am I serious about living a life transformed by Christ? If so, then I need to “˜listen”™ to His command [to love others as He has loved me] and put it into action. Where to begin? I need to begin with my thinking processes and my words, then my actions need to reflect my motives and my agenda. My body language is also a way to communicate this inner change.
How did Jesus love you and me?
(Amplified) 1 Peter 2:24 “He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.”
“Jesus loves me this I know””¦for He sacrificially loved you and me!
