(NASB) John 15:1 “I AM the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.”

Jesus boldly declared to His disciples “I am the true vine”¦” He often spoke of Himself from the perspective of deity when He used the phrase “I am”. Why is this important?

God has declared that His name is “I Am Who I Am”. (See Exodus 3:14)

Consider His name “I Am”. He is declaring that He is the ever-present, living God.

In the past He has always been!

In the present He is.

In the future He will be there too!

This God of the Bible reveals Himself through His word and through His Son and through His Holy Spirit. He is three Persons yet One God”¦the God Who is the ever-present, living God. He IS the “I Am”.

He is available for you to know Him, to worship Him, to trust Him, to believe His words of truth.

When Jesus declared “I am the true vine”¦” He was declaring Himself to be God. He differentiated Himself from all other “˜gods”™.

What a God the followers of Christ have in the “I Am”. Our God is an awesome God.

He has always been“¦no one has made Him up in their minds. (See Genesis 1:1)

He is in the present and available to become anyone”™s Savior who believes in Him. (See John 3:16-21)

He will be in the future“¦our hope is in the living God Who is ever-present for the followers of Christ. (See 1 Thessalonians 2:19; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

Followers of Christ can know with certainty that their God is the “I Am”. Assurance and confidence in Jesus Christ is found in His name!

Prayer: Lord, Who is the “I Am””¦hear my prayer. Open my understanding to Who You are. Help me to know You better than I do this moment. In the name of Jesus”¦Amen.
