Followers of Christ can point to specific times in their lives when GodӪs words became relevant, vibrant and had deeper meaning for them. Trusting God is not just a clich̩, it is to be the basis for life. Why? Choosing faith in God is the only option to knowing God and His comfort. His words are to be taken by faith in what He says and what He has done and will do.

How did Jesus comfort His disciples before the distressing events of His arrest, suffering and death?

(NIV) John 14:1-4 “DO NOT let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2In my Father”™s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.”

When events overwhelm us ““ how can these words of Jesus comfort us?

1 ““ Trust in God ““ is not to just be a cliché, it is to be a way of thinking and living.

2 ““ Christ Jesus has gone to prepare an actual place for His followers, from these verses it sounds as if we will each have a place that is tailor-made for us.

3 ““ There is a specific time in which Jesus will come back and take us to be where He is today.

4 ““ I do not know what the place looks like and I do not know when this will occur”¦but, I do know the way. The way is through knowing Jesus personally. He is knowable and He is God the Son. Jesus has provided the way for you and me to live with Him forever.

What is going on in your life today in which you need the comfort of God?

Perhaps you would use the following verses as your prayer:

(Amplified) Psalm 119:76-77 “Let, I pray You, Your merciful kindness and steadfast love be for my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant.

77Let Your tender mercy and loving-kindness come to me that I may live, for Your law is my delight!”

God”™s comfort is knowable!
