Messiah”¦Fulfilled the “˜Picture”™ of Passover
The Jewish people passed on their heritage of faith in God through their Feasts, which God had instituted.
The family unit was used to keep the importance and the meaning of the Passover fresh through the rituals associated with Feast.
(NASB) Exodus 12:25-27 “When you enter the land which the Lord will give you, as He has promised, you shall observe this rite.
26 “˜And when your children say to you, “˜What does this rite mean to you?”™
27 you shall say, “˜It is a Passover sacrifice to the Lord who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but spared our homes.”™”
Why was Passover so important then? Passover was important because it commemorated the Israelites being delivered out of slavery in Egypt by Moses.
Why is Passover important for the Christian today? Passover is a “˜type”™ or “˜picture”™ of what Christ Jesus has done for us on the cross and through His resurrection from the dead. He died at the time of the sacrifice of the lamb on Passover. He has become our Passover Lamb Who takes away our sins.
God”™s ordained rituals in the Old Testament point to Messiah, the Anointed One. To learn about Jesus we need to know what God has given us through the “˜pictures”™ of people, events and prophecies in the Old Testament.
You will find the details of the Passover in Exodus 12:1-14
To celebrate the Passover, a lamb was to be chosen ““ a lamb which was unblemished ““ the lamb represented what Messiah would one day be and do”¦He would be sacrificed so His blood would cover those who look to Him for protection from death. Messiah, the Lamb Who is without sin, the Son of God.
Jesus is the unblemished Lamb of God which has taken away the sins of the world. Have you received Him? (See John 1:29)
When this spring comes and Easter is celebrated”¦remember Passover”¦for it embodies what Christ has done on the cross for you.
Committed followers of Christ have a reason for a celebration of joy”¦He has risen from the dead! He was given life and His life is given to all who receive Him as their Savior.
(NASB) John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
Having heard His word, have you believed
God the Father Who sent Messiah for you?
Having heard His word have you received
the eternal life which only comes through Messiah?
Having heard His word do you know
that you will not be judged, except through Messiah?
Having heard His word do you know
that you have passed out of death into life through Messiah?
