Dishonesty Steals”¦
Our words and our actions tell people who we are. Our character is revealed by our actions and our words.
Notice Judas Iscariot”™s character as it was revealed at a dinner party given in Jesus”™ honor at the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. The twelve disciples were reclining at the table along with Lazarus and Jesus.
(NASB) John 12:4-5 “But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said,
5 “˜Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?”™”
(NASB) John 12:6 “Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.”
We can infer from this passage that Judas Iscariot”™s character had been revealed through his actions.
Judas Iscariot was dishonest and a thief.
What are some of the lessons which we can learn from this?
Dishonesty robs the one who lies and cheats
Dishonesty robs others of what is rightfully theirs
Dishonesty betrays many
Dishonesty steals to satisfy the robbers “˜wants”™
Dishonesty is not concealed forever ““ it becomes more and more apparent over time
Dishonesty earns others contempt
When Judas Iscariot”™s name is mentioned in Scripture he is always identified as the betrayer of Jesus.
Wherever you are dishonest”¦know that you are not getting away with it”¦others are watching.
Dishonesty takes away:
your integrity”¦your character”¦your reputation”¦
