Reality of False Prophets
Orchards are grown to produce fruit for the market. If a tree”™s fruit is no good for eating”¦that tree is chopped down and burned up. Its fruit revealed its true character.
In the same way, people who seem to love God yet are false to His teachings and not in agreement with His word are like that tree whose fruit is no good.
Jesus gave us this warning:
(NASB) Matthew 7:15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep”™s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”
(NASB) Matthew 7:17-18 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.”
Jesus gave us a logical and realistic “˜picture”™ of false teachers (prophets) when He gave us a picture of a tree producing bad fruit or good fruit.
It is impossible in nature and impossible spiritually
to produce good fruit if the tree is bad.
We need to use wise discernment and recognize false prophets, teachers and their false teachings. How do we recognize them? By the fruit they produce through their words and actions.
(NASB) Matthew 7:19-20 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 “˜So then, you will know them by their fruits.”
Watch out for false prophets”¦
you can discern them by their fruits.
